Media known as fourth pillar of democracy lacks stability, credibility and loyalty. Over the years the neutrality of print and visual media have taken a low profile. The story of social media is yet another setback aligning with the qualities of the media indicated above.
Genuine social scientists and political analysts clearly trace and track the behavioural pattern of other limbs of the democracy.
Legislatures, the basic structure have been occupied by powerful lobbies nurtured by corporates of various hues.Essentially, the system dovetails to safeguard and protect their interests in camaflouge.
Excecutives, have the command and control in the democracy largely descend from wealthy excepting a few exceptions, influenced by their economic and social background. Symbolic gesture and measures from this wing of democracy would not touch upon the primary aspects of issues and problems facing common man in any democracy.
Judiciary, in the upper pyramid of power structure of democracy created by the provisions of the Constitution like other structures quite not encouraging as more often their functions tow to the lines of the party in power in a subjective manner excepting a few conscious presiding officers exhibiting allegiance to the Constitution al values and ethos of democracy.
There are some faint rays of hope amidst corporates control of media. Freelance and independent journalists getting encouragement by way of donations from patriotic elements and NGOS uphold the banner of fair reporting and undaunted expression of the policies and programmes of any government that rule from time to time with hopes.
