Sir, The Article by SEEMA MUSTAFA , Dated 9th February,2008, on the approach to Women's Reservation Bill. The author has stated that" all found excuses to stop this......that OBC and Dalit women should be given special privileges, and cannot be equated with all women.".The argument put forth by the supporters of providing inner reservation for Socially and Educationally Backward in the Caste System, i.e.for OBC women and Dalit women. All are women, no doubt.Equating upper caste women on par with the OBCc and Dalita, reveals our ignorance of the existing socio-economic and political realities in Society.Within the Family, no doubt women of all castes are oppressed and discriminated.But it cannot be advanced as an argument for this concrete situation, to suggest a race among unequals for a place in Legislatures and Parliaments under Reservation. Notorious 'Mumbai Riots' and large scale sufferings faced by Muslims and Madrasis, have already brought disgrace to the Country.The Political Parties of all streams should in one voice oppose the recent attacks in Mumbai and other places of the State of Maharashtra.Let sense prevail on the senseless.
