Public Health Care Delivery System in the Union Territory of Puducherry- A few hard facts. The Union Territory of Puducherry declares itself as proud and reeling out statistics, amongst other things, having two Hospitals and a Medical College under the Government Sector.One more Women and Children Hospital also in its fold.However, their performance are gradually declining. The Police and Crime Statistics available for the first time for the years 2001-02 and 2002-03 in Puduchery. 1.Cognisable Crime-- 4,440 in 2002 2.Crimes Under Local and Special Laws--- 26,865 in 2002 In 2003, the figures are as follows: 1. Supreme Court's recent hold on O.B.C.reservation of 27% in higher educational institutions has once again created a nation wide furore among the students.As a student of sociology,I understand that the reservation in respect of the backward class in central government jobs and educational institutions has been deprived since 1950.
