STOIC SILENCE!

Competitive Entrance Test For Admission To Colleges introduced in the Education System of Puducherry on the pattern of TamilNadu, after Higher Secondary Course is still continued, even after the neighboring State had abolished, amidst difficulties expressed from various sections of Society, more particularly the ordeals faced by rural folk last year.

From then the political parties and social action groups interested in the students welfare have been insisting the Government of Puducherry to do away with the CENTAC. In the Legislative Assembly, the Chief Minister assured the Members that a decision would be taken next year. Now the Students Community and their parents are agitated and feeling uncertainties as the 'Coaching Business Cartels" have set their target and started issuing applications for screening tests and launch of the classes soon.

Meanwhile, parents associations, political parties and social action groups have been conducting call attention programs to remind the Government to implement its commitment made last year to abolish CENTAC.

The Government is yet unmoved and maintains a stoic silence. This sluggish approach and passivity in taking a timely decision reminds us the 'Proverbial Nero'. While a bigger State could set a precedent and path in abolishing entrance after H.S.C. 'A Beautiful State! could not open its mouth so far and playing with the lives of the students, especially the rural oppressed sections of society.
