Falure of Governance

The Government at the center seems to have totally lost its its control over price rises, whether it is petroleum goods or essential commodities. Reserve bank of India's endeavor in revising repo rates and cash reserve ratios of Banks certainly have failed to control inflation.Current trend poses a serious impending damage to the economy. The increase in lending rates of Banks announced as a consequence, certainly is going to affect the people, who have already suffering decline in their purchasing power.

Prices of food grains and groceries have shot up considerably; hike in transport fares has pushed up the prices of vegetables; medicines and cost of medical services have also show an upward trend. Education, particularly, the cost of higher education has become dearer, despite the Government providing necessary infrastructure facilities to private players like land, water , electricity, etc. The fees structure for Engineering for an example has been revised from the Rs.32,500 to 62,500 per annum, apart from the other unaccounted sundries levied by the Engineering Colleges is quite alarming for the middle class to cope up with, forget about the common man, who still remain outside the realm of coverage of Professional Education.

Capitation fee from Rs.2 lacs to 4.5 lacs for a seat, charged by the Institutions for engineering and Rs.12 lacs to 15 lacs for Medical College seat, have already changed the scenario into a lucrative business venture. Those, who live in rented houses are compelled to pay higher rent in the changing scenario. The Government has already washed its hands that providing jobs is not its responsibility, anyway getting votes is.

One can with all firmness say that all present day evils, like decline in food production; suicide of 1.5 lac farmers in various states on account of poverty and indebtedness; 27.5% of the population reeling under below poverty;more than 49% of the farmers are in the clutches of private money-lenders in rural and urban areas and mass illiteracy among the population at primary level; increasing number of crimes are strong indicators of a potentially weak nation and failure in governance by the Government in almost all fronts.
