Rule of Law or Rule of Flaw in Puducherry

Few days ago, it was reported in the Newspaper that a Lawyer and a Sub-Inspector of Police were arrested by the C.B.I. near Manimegalai Higher Secondary School, puducherry, while the duo was receiving graft from a person, who said to have had a deal struck with them, to save him from the dragnet of Police in a Criminal Case filed by a Women complainant allegedly cheated, by arranging a trap for the man in the Uniform and the Advocate.

As soon as the arrest occurred, the lawyers in support of the accused-advocate rushed to the scene, picked up quarrel with the C.B.I. Officers. With much difficulties the they took both of them for Interrogation and the next day produced in the Court of Sessions. The Judge granted bail to the Advocate and refused bail to the Sub-Inspector of Police. Meanwhile, the police personnel from all the Police Stations and Traffic Points deserted their place of duty and rushed to the Court Campus in a mass and agitated against the advocates.

They went a step ahead and intimidated the press by manhandling some of them.Even the Presiding Judge of the Sessions not spared and his movement was restrained, compelling him to reverse his earlier decision of not granting bail to the Man in Khaki. Another development was the family members of the accused police official vitually blocked the flow of traffic in the Rajiv Gandhi Signal.The Politicians including the M.L.A,s of the opposition parties, who rushed to the spot was abused by the advocates and the Police-agitators.

The Union Territory had not witnessed such ruckus from the law and order machinery.The sour point in the incident was the behavior of advocates in negotiating such unhealthy trends affecting their moral standing.Their impeccable morality expected and nobility of the profession from Society's point of view suffered a severe beating and retreat. The question now arises in the minds of the law abiding citizens how safe their lives in the hands of the unscrupulous.Anybody who muster power for collecting mobs and support him, the authorities, however higher he may be succumbs to the pressure, which trend staged the day before are not certainly healthy and judicious.

The Rulers owe immediate answer to the unsavory happenings.

Boating and Lakes in Puducherry ! Knowledgeable people in Puducherry know about the Lakes in the Region and their water source.About 86 Lakes found in the Union Territory. They are fed by river flows from Tamilnadu. Catchment areas are only in the neighbouring State. Traditionally inland fisherman occupation dependent on these Waterbodies and local back waters. Traffic and Pedestrian Rights It is an open secret that the traffic situation in Puducherry is chaotic.The National Data for road accidents place the Territory in higher risk category. Given it's demography and extent of territory the number of vehicles plying on the road is disproportionate and unmatching.
