Rise of Crimes in Puducherry- An analysis-1

The Puducherry has been witnessing serial attacks and counter attacks by goons, groups, anti-social elements, disrupting public life and instilling fear psychosis in the minds of common man. Traders, vendors and business people, who are already suffering from 'Collection Raj' from lumpens are scared and worried over reprisal killing near their business places. In proportion to the area and size of the population the increase in crime graph in the State is quite alarming. Every day, news of crimes committed in unique fashion, has already affected the fame and name of the much talked about 'Peace Town'. Peace is in pieces and hangs its head in abysmal shame.

A Region's prosperity, as we all know is to be assessed not in terms of its glittering roads, high-rise buildings, Halls, Mals or other cosmetic developments. When tranquility and order of the Society is in constant peril and the 'Rule of Law' has taken the backseat, all tall talk about growth and development are out of context, reprehensible and irresponsible.

The trend of youths in getting involved in commission of more and more heinous crimes, reveals the unhealthy system of Governance. The social, economic causes have to be identified in consultation with the experts in the field of Criminology, sociology, social-psychology and Social-Conscientious Police Officials and Reputed Judges and Politicians. The problems have to be discussed thread- bare involving the Public also, in tackling and finding out a lasting solution to the 'perennial disease'.

Traffic and Pedestrian Rights It is an open secret that the traffic situation in Puducherry is chaotic.The National Data for road accidents place the Territory in higher risk category. Given it's demography and extent of territory the number of vehicles plying on the road is disproportionate and unmatching. Boating and Lakes in Puducherry ! Knowledgeable people in Puducherry know about the Lakes in the Region and their water source.About 86 Lakes found in the Union Territory. They are fed by river flows from Tamilnadu. Catchment areas are only in the neighbouring State. Traditionally inland fisherman occupation dependent on these Waterbodies and local back waters.
